Job Overview

Metrotechs is hiring a talented Next.js Developer to help us build fast, reliable, and scalable eCommerce and SaaS experiences. You’ll work closely with our designers, backend engineers, and stakeholders to ship production-grade features using Next.js, React, and TypeScript—often in headless setups powered by WordPress/WooCommerce, Shopify, or custom APIs on AWS/Vercel.

If you love shipping clean code, care about performance and UX, and enjoy solving real business problems at scale, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build & Ship: Develop features and apps with Next.js (App Router, RSC, SSR/SSG/ISR) and React/TypeScript.
  • Integrations: Connect to REST/GraphQL APIs and commerce platforms (WooCommerce, Shopify, BigCommerce), payments (e.g., Stripe), and tools like HubSpot/SendGrid.
  • Performance: Optimize Core Web Vitals, code-splitting, image optimization, caching (CDN/Redis), and accessibility.
  • UI Implementation: Deliver responsive interfaces using Tailwind CSS and component libraries (e.g., shadcn/ui) with strong attention to UX.
  • Data & Analytics: Instrument events for GA4/Looker Studio and ensure decision-ready tracking.
  • Security & Auth: Implement secure auth (NextAuth/JWT), follow OWASP best practices, and protect APIs.
  • Quality: Write tests (Jest/RTL/Playwright), perform code reviews, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions).
  • DevOps: Deploy on Vercel and/or AWS (S3/CloudFront/Lambda), manage environment configs, and monitor with tools like Sentry.
  • Collaboration: Partner with designers and PMs to scope, estimate, and deliver work on time.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 3+ years with React; 2+ years focused on Next.js in production.
  • Core Stack: Strong TypeScript, modern React patterns, App Router, and Server Components.
  • Styling: Tailwind CSS (or similar) and solid understanding of responsive design and accessibility.
  • State/Data: Familiarity with TanStack Query/React Query and common state patterns (Context/Zustand/Redux).
  • APIs & DB: Comfortable with API Routes, Node.js, and ORMs (e.g., Prisma) targeting Postgres/MySQL; Redis a plus.
  • Headless CMS: Experience with WordPress/WooCommerce via REST or WPGraphQL is a plus.
  • Performance & SEO: Proven ability to improve Lighthouse scores and technical SEO fundamentals.
  • Process: Git/GitHub workflows, PR reviews, and CI/CD. Great communication and ownership mindset.
