Job Overview

Metrotechs is hiring a UI/UX Designer to help us create clean, high-performing eCommerce and SaaS experiences. You’ll partner with product, engineering, and stakeholders to turn business goals and user needs into intuitive flows, polished interfaces, and measurable outcomes. Our products span headless storefronts, dashboards, and internal tools used by real customers every day.

If you’re user-obsessed, detail-oriented, and comfortable moving from research to pixel-perfect handoff, we’d love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Research & Strategy: Run interviews, audits, and competitive reviews to uncover user needs and define UX goals, success metrics, and hypotheses.
  • Information Architecture: Map user journeys, site maps, and flows that simplify complex commerce tasks (browse, compare, cart, checkout, account, support).
  • Design & Prototyping: Produce low-to-high fidelity wireframes and clickable prototypes in Figma; iterate quickly based on feedback and data.
  • Visual & Design Systems: Create polished UI, components, and tokens; maintain a shared design system aligned with engineering (Tailwind/shadcn/ui).
  • Usability & CRO: Plan and run usability tests and A/B experiments; use analytics (GA4/Looker Studio, heatmaps) to drive decisions.
  • Handoff & QA: Prepare specs and documentation; partner with developers to ensure accurate implementation and accessible, responsive UI.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present rationale, trade-offs, and results to teammates and clients in a clear, concise way.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience: 3+ years designing web products; eCommerce or SaaS experience is a plus.
  • Tools: Expert in Figma (components, variants, prototyping, auto-layout). Adobe CC/Sketch/Framer experience is a bonus.
  • UX Depth: Strong in IA, interaction design, usability testing, and content/UX writing fundamentals.
  • Accessibility: Working knowledge of WCAG, color contrast, keyboard navigation, and semantic patterns.
  • Data-Informed: Comfortable reading analytics, defining UX metrics, and turning insights into iterations.
  • Dev Collaboration: Familiar with front-end concepts (HTML/CSS/JS), design tokens, and handoff to Next.js/Tailwind teams.
  • Portfolio: A focused portfolio with shipped work that explains the problem, your process, and measurable impact.

Why Join Us?

  • Build high-impact products for real customers across modern commerce stacks.
  • Remote-first and flexible schedule (Central Time collaboration is helpful).
  • Learning budget, mentorship, and clear growth paths.
  • Competitive pay, benefits, and generous PTO in a supportive, builder-led culture.
